The importance of a frame of reference for Twitter-style reading clear from this poll. Very few have time to read books and longer articles:

How do you update your thinking on Europe and security?

You can instruct your staff to promote development, peace and conflict prevention - but to no use if they are not properly trained to implement your instruction!

There is a clear disconnect between training systems on security and development in the EU and probably elsewhere. https://t.co/0u9PEG3fxb

An introductory video:
For me it is after more than 40 years in active service time to pay forward and sharing experiences with a focus on your questions!

See four videos/course outlines below - very preliminary attempts both in terms of technical quality and content

Note: courses and information packages will gradually be introduced in their empirical context: on the respective pages dealing with health security, terrorism, migration etc.

Background reading: 5 points on how this website is developing into to combination of  app/website with all learning and background material soon to be found in background pages:

1. My website lelundin.org has now been adapted to mobile use including with a free app with the same name.

2. Most pages will start with recent news items - often with real time Twitter feeds.

3. Material providing overview and a source of reflection will gradually be introduced on the Daily zoom out and Issue zoom out pages . Many pages will be set up to allow for relaxed e-learning with video and audio material. A free trial will be offered until the end of 2016. Thereafter a modest fee will be charged to secure the continued operation of the site.  Membership entitles to access to a specific membership page where suggestions for priority briefings can be put forward. The site as such will hopefully be open to all - membership gives enhanced opportunities to get more out of the site for your personal needs through interaction with me.

Never stop learning, never stop reassessing, always look for the context - vital mottos for every successful actor in security policy.

And it can be done using an e-learning light method allowing for overview whenever you have a few minutes.

No need to sit at your desk - time to acknowledge that those big briefing folders prepared for the hierarchy often are not read. Instead people are scanning their ever larger mobiles - and you can do this by signing up - once - to the list of small awareness-raising briefings I am preparing for you on my background pages soon also available as an app.

And you do not even always need to read - if this is difficult on the mobile - you can listen your way through many the presentations.

Going through them in whole or in part requires nothing of you.  And it should take you less than a minute to sign up. So do it today - there are two links to pilot courses below on motivation and the EU Neighbourhood policy.I addition there are two short Youtube videos about me and an illustration of the migrant smuggling problem.

Over time these briefings should cover the full range of security policies followed on these web pages ranging from smart security strategies, CSDP, to the situation in key fragile countries to Ukraine, terrorism, gender security and climate change.

And they should, if all goes well, also give you inspiration to try out software and other methodologies that might be new to you.

You may be an official, a researcher/student and/or a person looking for a job or an internship. You may be working for the EU or in most cases working with the EU on different levels from NGO:s to international organisations.

The key common denominator for you all is that you are challenged on a daily basis with security problems where you and your organisation have difficulties to be fully effective.

So your interest and your motivation must be based on the sense of needing to do more - often with less time, staff and even money - and for this reason to learn more!

For me this is closely link to the notion of intrinsic motivation - a major drive for human progress.

A few tips:
-
If you work on a mobile turn into the horizontal position.
- On a desktop zoom in to have the screen cover the whole page or even better go here to access the full webbrain screen.
- hover over thought icons to the left of many icons to get immediate illustrations
links to videos, texts etc. in white part of the screen below + plus possible comments from my side.
