Some further notes on where I am coming from when posting to the group "Social media skills promoting security, human rights, rule of law" on LinkedIn

For the benefit of the followers of this group – some further notes on  the level of analysis that I propose for my own part.

I’m currently on my website lelundin.org focusing on lessons learned.

I am trying to cover a large number of topics relating to security including human rights, democracy and the rule of law in a relatively shallow way. I sacrifice - voluntarily  depth -  for scope.

This meant that my  Handbook on the  EU and security from 2015 had to limit itself to outlining a frame of reference with a relatively limited empirical content.

Those among my colleagues who took the time to discuss the content of the book were obviously interested in empirical data.  More specifically they were interested in case studies to further outline, substantiate and to a certain extent test the validity of the frame of reference.

So as a second step I set up the website  on  Europe and security which since 2015 has grown into a significant body of information organized in the same way as  the handbook.

Now after close to 3 years I’m keen to take the lessons learned perspective on this work forward.

I will do so  both from the methodological and substantial perspective.

Because I’m concerned that more people should benefit from my experiences not only in substance but also on the issue of how, methodology.

Clearly when one discusses outreach which is a central issue for instance for  think tanks it is important not to get stuck just on problems relating to outreach.

I am convinced that the whole chain of preparatory work from information retrieval to analysis and then to outreach is important.

In terms of structure I will post these blog pieces as it looks now  here on the website lelundin.org.

In this group I will allow myself to post short and rather spontaneous blog pieces without any pretension to be exhaustive  on issues relating to these problems.

    What is this?

This is a series of blog post summarizing in a spontaneous and often not very exhaustive way lessons learned from my work with outreach.
